Beaten but Not Bowed at Kendal

Some Great Individual Performances
Kendal 2nd XV 40 Warrington 2nd XV 0
Warrington’s second team made the long journey to Kendal, where they were emphatically beaten by this season’s deserved league champions. Even so, the game saw some outstanding individual performances from some old players, who answered the call to ensure that the side remained in Raging Bull North West Division 1.
Kendal lost no time in proving their all-round strength and soon rushed into a 12-0 lead. The onslaught was relentless but excellent defence, especially from Matt Hennessey, who has obviously picked up a few tips from his employment at Saracens, and Luke Johnstone, who was a rock in the centre, prevented the home side from running riot.
Unfortunately the continuous tackling eventually took its toll and Kendal ran in 28 points in the second period, with no reply from a courageous Warrington fifteen.
“I was very proud of every one of the lads today,” said skipper Sean Yoxhall, who has been the mainstay of the team all season. “We have a home fixture against Kirkby Lonsdale on Saturday and we are looking forward to finishing the season in style.”
