New Talent Continues To Shine Through

Warrington’s 3rd team carried out a clinical annihilation of Sandbach with an 11 try display, which combined both excellent teamwork and some superb individual performances. Hopefully, this can be maintained for Warrington’s final match next week, when they visit league champions Chester.

The opening try was fittingly scored by the side’s aspirant Aussie, Jayesh Kerai, in his penultimate game, when he supported a backs’ move and crossed under the posts. Skipper Shaun McDermott kicked the first of his seven conversions.

The floodgates then opened, with three tries from Dan Griffiths, four tries from Christian White and two from Paul Thompson, one a lung-bursting 80-yard effort.

The final try was probably the pick of the bunch and involved some sleight of hand, intricate footwork and pure pace from the combination of Shaun McDermott and Duncan Rickard, with the centre claiming the final touchdown.

“This was yet another fine display by our young team,” said skipper Shaun McDermott. “What is really pleasing is that we have introduced a lot of new talent to senior rugby and this conveyor belt should continue next season when this year’s colts start to filter into the senior ranks.”
