In the Final!
The under 14's dominate a plucky Littleborough side to go through to the Lancashire Cup final.
The under 14's put in a ruthless display of attacking rugby to dispatch a Littleborough side that despite the scoreline continued to play right up to the final whistle.
The early ball was controlled by Littleborough and they went through the phases in our half but lacked any real penetration going left to right, however a superb intercept from an alert Jack Whit sent him straight down the middle but the Littleborough fullback alert to the danger closed him down but not before he found Rorio who burned down the wing and offloaded to Lightnin to score.
We quickly added a second from the restart, KB caught a bouncing ball, offloaded to Charlie who battered his way through the Littleborough defence and superbly kept the ball alive to find Rorio who again burned down the wing to score. Jude S added the conversion.
It was more of the same for the third, great hands stretched the Borough defence allowing Whit to make a break before popping the ball up to Rorio as he was tackled, Rorio did the rest!
Charlie looked much more like his old self following his sore back and at number 8 he caused Borough issues all morning, it was Charlie who scored the next try picking and going from a scrum 5 yards out to muscle his way over. Rorio added a 5th just before half time in a one sided first half to give us the win.
Fair play to Borough, they wanted to play on and the second half was a much closer affair as they enjoyed more ball in hand. Our forward line superbly marshalled by Isaac and Riley kept them at bay however and when the chances came we took them. It was Isaac who scored next with a gift from Lightnin who had skipped his way through. Lightnin scored again, again from the kick off as a static Borough defence watched a bouncing ball he ran straight through, scooped it up and scored a brilliant solo try.
Owen topped off a great morning when Leo literally danced his way through a tiring Borough defence and offloaded to him to go in at the corner.
It was a great team performance today, we ran straight and hard, the wingers were superb, Whit and Nathan in particular. 3 on 2's and 2 on 1's kept delivering us tries all morning. Matty and Jude who shared kicking duties both had great games creating opportunities all over the pitch. The twins and Lightnin caused all kinds of Issues for the Borough defence with there blistering pace. Overall a very satisfactory mornings rugby to put us into the final in 2 weeks time.
Thanks to Kate and the Borough boys, they are a good side and played solidly for 50 minutes, it certainly wasn't as one sided as the scoreline suggests. Next up Collegiate in the final !!! Well done Wire.
