Mid-week coach calls seemed to point to a lot of Lymm players watching a single Warrington side play their team mates so some furious arranging resulted in both Warrington and Broughton Park taking sides to Lymm on a very cold and windy morning.
The conditions, a disastrous warm up and the fearsome Lymm reputation meant we approached game one with trepidation against what looked like a strong Lymm team.
Lymm '1' were indeed strong but the Rebels showed real determination and tagged relentlessly.
Ben Lomax scored a great individual try after Lymm took the lead with a good passing move, and then quick thinking and following up by Ryan Edwards saw Warrington take the lead late in the game. In the last possession of the match Lymm stretched Warrington wide and scored an equaliser in the corner on the final whistle, 2-2.
Game two and once again the Rebels faced a Lymm side. The Rebels blasted out of the blocks and tagged the opposition off the park.
Five scorers shared six tries tries (Ben (2), Sam Roberts, Harrison Dillon, Ryan Edwards, Sam Hanna) in a very impressive 6-1 victory.
Buoyed perhaps by the big win in game two, the Rebels seemed to sleepwalk into the game against Broughton Park who fielded some huge boys and some good runners.
Park took the initiative and the lead early in the match and the sides swapped tries until mid-way through the second half when the U8's seemed to knuckle down. Two tries each for old hands Ben and Sam R were matched by rookie Jacob Dalton who continues to impress with his electric runs, 6-4 to us.
The final match against Lymm '3' was a close affair, the coaches played more development players and were rewarded with tries for Oliver Hunter-Robinson and Jacob Sollory Park. Ryan Edwards added a further two to his tally to give the Rebels a 4-3 victory.
Overall, performances were excellent, eight of the nine man squad scored tries which was fantastic and the coaches were unanimous in their choice of Jacob Dalton for their special weekly award, with Ben Lomax topping the tries scored table
