The boys run in 122 points conceding only 17 in a fantastic days rugby!
We took a strong looking squad to the Caldy festival and it showed as the u15's lifted the trophy after seeing off some tough opposition. We were drawn in an interesting group against Lymm, Wirral and Winnington Park, all Cheshire teams we hadn't played so far this season. In the opening match against neighbours Lymm it was clear they wanted to secure local bragging rights as the Cheshire cup finalists dished out a physical performance and deservedly took the lead a couple of minutes into the 9 minute each way game with our lads seemingly still half asleep. The bigger Lymm pack dominated the first half but with the pace we have we are able to score at any point which we did either side of half time thanks to Rorio and James. Jack B kicked the extras to confirm the win.
The second game v Wirral was a one sided affair as we ran in 39 unanswered points, they are a decent competitive side and as one sided as it sounds they made it hard going for us. Rorio with 3, Cam S with 2 quickfire tries down the wing and Joe M & Jim contributing.
Winnington went the same way as Wirral, conceding 33 unanswered points. Rorio ran his socks off on the wide pitch scoring 3 tries, Leo deserves a shout at this point, he put his brother through for a few of these tries with some superb unselfish offloads. His mum actually claimed to see them give each other a hug at one point!
We faced Whitchurch in the semi, having not played this team for a couple of years we were unsure what to expect. They were very good, fast and competitive. As in the Lymm game the opposition opened the scoring and following a rather tense first half where we knew we had to win (in the result of a draw Whitchurch would go through as they scored first) the twins turned it around for us. Rorio levelled things and Leo scoring the winning try with a couple of minutes left, converted by Matty and Jack B to put is in the final against fellow Lancs cup semi finalists Waterloo.
In the final we went a couple of tries up with some superb team rugby, our handling and decision making was brilliant throughout the day and despite the long break before the final we continued the good form. Waterloo managed to pull one back, this was only a blip however as we dominated possession and when the third try went in you could see Waterloo's shoulders slump as the clock ticked away. Rorio was on fire and added a 4th to seal a 22-5 win and the cup.
Thanks to all our competitors, everyone gave us a good game, thanks to the officials and to Caldy for putting on a superb festival!
