Warrington u15's make the Lancashire Cup Final with a powerful display

With both teams undefeated in the group stages it was clear that this semi final played at Bridge Lane would be a tough encounter and it didn't disappoint. Visitors, Heaton Moor had possession for much of the early exchanges and with intense, defensive line-speed pressure, the intent from the home team was clear from the start. Heaton Moor were first on the scoresheet with an interception try. Warrington then tested the Heaton Moor defence with some sustained pressure, going through multiple phases with Warrington's pack beginning to get on the front foot.

Warrington went close several times, George Kelly going close to scoring then eventually following some good carries from prop, Jadeon Swanepoel, second row, Archie Turriff and hooker, McKenzie Morris the space on the edges and a quick ball from Freddie Hartill put Paddy Shephard through a gap and the centre was in the clear to score. 5 mins later Shephard combined with his winger, Ty Swinton to score his 2nd as Warrington began to move the ball quickly to their edges. When flanker, Mikey Craven picked up an inside ball from Jack Pendlebury to break the line, using great footwork to race half the pitch to touch down in the corner, the home side were in control at the break.

At the start of the 2nd half came the try of the game as prop, Fin Hill broke through from inside his own half, evading defenders all the way to the try line. Heaton Moor then showed their resilience and the reason why they're undefeated in the competition to this point, scoring a nice try in their left corner after a good sweeping play to the winger. Warrington returned to their shape and worked the ball through the middle, down the left then Ollie Orgill going over off a nice Luke Pybus pass. Hartill again put Shephard through a gap and the centre used his footwork, speed and skill to beat the covering fullback to complete his hat-trick. Conversions by Jack Pendlebury.

Coach, Iain Pybus was pleased with the team's attitude, "We turned up with a defensive mind-set. Heaton Moor are a very good side with a strong pack but our defence gave them no time on the ball from which we were able to build. Our attack structure, especially in the 1st half was particularly strong. Fast rucks with fast hands to our fast players on the edges and bodies in motion."

The final is on the 28th April at Leigh RUFC.
