Welfare and Safeguarding 4 of 5

4. First Aid and Welfare

There is a wealth of information on First Aid and Welfare on the RFU website. The club take player welfare very seriously. Our RugbySafe lead is Fiona Kellett, who is an experienced sports physiotherapist trained in immediate care by the RFU. Fiona can be contacted on fiona.kellett@sky.com. 1st XV physio is Kirsty Kellett, who takes over the reigns after assisting in the last few seasons.

***UPDATE***

The RFU have released specific guidance relating to First Aid that applies to all rugby activity (training and fixtures). All coaches, assistant coaches, team managers and especially First Aiders should familiarise themselves with these requirements (attached).

All coaches should familiarise themselves with this subject and be aware of the following:

1) The requirement to report serious injuries to the RFU (see form).

2) The requirement to report all injuries to the club (see form).

3) The concussion guidelines. All players who experience symptoms of concussion should be notified to Kirsty Kellett (Seniors) or Fiona Kellett and Nick Stafford (M&J).

Further information on concussion can be found on the club notice board and the RFU website: http://www.englandrugby.com/my-rugby/players/player-health/concussion-headcase/

4) Referral of Mini and Junior players to Fiona Kellett should be done via CSO Nick Stafford.

5) The restocking of First Aid kits should be done via Lucy or Nick, but please notify them in advance of what you require and arrange a time to collect.
