Massive congratulations from all at Warrington Rugby Union club go to Roma Zheng, his family and all his coaches on signing his very first professional contract with Harlequins.

It is with the greatest pride that we can now see one of our very own go on to further his game at the highest level. Roma is an absolute credit to himself and his family that he has got to this stage with a passion, dedication and desire that was started playing minis rugby with WRUFC. Roma's rise to professional rugby has gone down a path less trodden for rugby union in that he didn't attend one of the usual 'rugby schools', he wasn't a member of the Sale (or any pro) academy and didn't play in the county rugby system. Roma has spent the last three years playing at the top level of the universities BUCS Super Rugby with Cardiff Metropolitan University, whilst completing his studies before making the move to London.

Roma has added that 'Getting to the point that I have reached as a rugby player, I always think back to my time at Warrington RUFC, the opportunities and memories they have gifted me are priceless. I’m excited that Warrington are finally getting the recognition they deserve in making top quality players who can excel within rugby'.

These things do not happen without having a supportive family in place and Roma's mum Lou has 4 sons who've all learnt their trade at WRUFC. Making sure that your players all have their kit and are all in the right place at the right times is a challenge for any parent, but Lou does this brilliantly with all four sons playing rugby. Lou has added, 'Warrington RUFC was a brilliant foundation for Roma growing up. In his own words “From the minute I arrived, I never looked back”. The path Warrington RUFC set for Roma was fundamental in creating the player he is today, and the mates and memories he’s made will be with him always'.

Amazingly exciting times and best of luck Roma. You'll always be welcome back at WRUFC; we can't wait to watch you go and look forward to seeing your jersey taking pride of place up in the club house.
