It's with great sadness that the club has to announce that Ste McGowan, dad of Bobby from our U14s, passed away on Saturday.
Ste has been a constant on the sidelines; rarely missing a training session or a match as he supported his beloved son Bobby on his rugby journey. Ste was a hugely popular member of our club and was always with us after games to talk about the U14s or rugby in general.
Outside of WRUFC, Ste was husband to Annelie, a devoted dad to Bobby and his sisters and a loving grandad who loved nothing more than talking about his family. Ste was well known in the Warrington rugby league circles and still playing touch rugby until recently when his knees told him it was time to ease off and focus on watching Bobby.
Due to the sudden nature of Ste's passing there is a GoFundMe page where people can donate to assist with the costs that his family did not expect to need covering at such a young age. Please help if you can. https://www.gofundme.com/f/stephen-j-mcgowan
Steve will be hugely missed by all of his family and everyone at WRUFC. I'm sure the rugby family will offer all their support to the McGowans and Bobby will very much be part of our U15s next season.
Rest in Peace Ste.
