Warrington 3rd XV 7 Aldwinians 2nd XV 20
Warrington managed to put together a scratch third team, featuring some of the players who had earlier taken part in the cross-code charity match in support of the injured Paul Grant. However, they were unable to overcome the all-round strength and experience of a meaty Aldwinians second team.
The visitors quickly went ahead when they drove over for a converted try. Warrington replied when Chris White combined guile with power to force his ay over under the posts and Ben Dixon converted to level the scores.
Unfortunately, the home side could then find now answer to the visitors’ attacking strengths and conceded two more tries and a penalty.
“We did well to restrict them to just three tries,” conceded skipper Shaun McDermott. “ And for that special thanks are due to Mike Haddon, Alwyn Hughes and the old man, Rocky Turner.”
