Fourth round win sets up round 5 vs Waterloo where the winner gets the home 1/4 draw.

Warrington’s under-14s delivered a mainly commanding performance against Eccles in the Lancashire Cup at Stockton Lane, showcasing both defensive tenacity and attacking flair to secure a 44-12 victory.

The match began with Warrington asserting dominance, their defensive ferocity and structured attack proving too much for Eccles to handle. Warrington’s early intensity saw them run in five tries in the first half, establishing a 27-0 lead. Seth Phillipson starred with two tries, while Saul Vella, Joel Dewhurst-Doyle, and Logan Jones also crossed the whitewash. Will Reynolds added one conversion to cap an electrifying opening period for Warrington.

Despite the scoreboard pressure, Eccles refused to back down. Their determination paid off just before the break, as sustained possession deep in Warrington’s half forced repeated penalties. A well-executed drive under the posts brought Eccles their first try of the match, which they converted to reduce the deficit to 27-7 at halftime.

The second half began with Warrington regaining momentum, using their forwards’ power to drive up the field. Tai Beddall’s try in the corner extended their lead to 32-5.

However, Eccles showed impressive resolve yet again, capitalising on Warrington's lapses in discipline. A slick lineout move and flowing backs’ play saw Eccles score a well-deserved try in the corner, though the conversion attempt went wide, making it 32-12.

The response from Warrington was emphatic. Refocused and determined, they regained control of the match, applying relentless pressure on Eccles. This intensity resulted in two more tries, both scored by Lawson Vella, with Joel Dewhurst-Doyle adding one conversion to seal an impressive 44-12 victory.

Warrington’s combination of power, defence, and attacking structure ultimately proved decisive, but Eccles can take pride in their spirited fightback and moments of quality under pressure.
