Warrington Under 13s Triumph Over Preston Grasshoppers

In an exciting clash of talent at Preston, Warrington Rugby Union Under 13s emerged victorious against Preston Grasshoppers with a final score of 10 - 5. The match, played with immense spirit and determination, showcased the promising future of both teams.

Preston started the brighter team, and showed a ferocity in defence which gained then several ruck turnovers, which they matched with an ambition to get the ball wide, this resulted in an early try for them as they burst through several tackles to touch down. This seemed to wake Warrington up and they quickly went on the offensive, a series of quick breaks from the backs, backed up by the forwards got us close to their line, a good run and set from the pack, allowed Lawson Vella to pick up from the base and crash over.

The rest of the first half was a tale of two halves by Warrington, a ferocity in defence, epitomised by Star Man Joss Ivins, meant that Preston struggled to get near our line. But Warrington gave them plenty of chances as poor discipline and a lack of control at rucks have Preston a seemingly endless series of penalties.

The second half started in much the same fashion, Warrington trying to play ambitious rugby bit discipline letting them down, but the defence continued to be resolute.
Warringtons second try epitomised this, Preston had a penalty, they ran it in and set for the ruck, but an amazing counter ruck by Warrington, allowed Lawson Vella to pick up from the base, hand off a couple and dive over in the corner to put us 10 - 5 ahead

Both teams went close again on a couple of occasions, but the defences were really on top today and both teams managed to keep each other out with the game finishing 10 - 5 to Warrington

This match was a testament to the talent and sportsmanship displayed by both Warrington and Preston Grasshoppers, and a great advert for rugby. The future of both clubs looks bright with teams like this coming through.

With a training week next week, the under 13s work towards Chester and then Wigan in the next round of the cup.
