Travelling for an early KO away to Trafford MV in torrential rain might have put some off from turning up. However not the U11s, who due to half term were thin for numbers, had different ideas. 2 teams of 8 and 7 players, Trafford kindly loaned us players to make the sides even, went about their matches with a steel determination that hadn’t been seen so far this season.
As we started the rain stopped and the sun appeared and from both matches scintillating rugby was shown from both sides on the day.
Strong defensive was pushing TMV back and creating opportunities for the turnover which when available was grabbed with both hands. That said TMV had there moments and ran in some great tries. However it was Warrington that started to force turnover and mistakes out of the opposition and turn defensive into attack by running in a number of well worked tries.
Both coaches commented on how the structures the players have been working on were paying dividends and more importantly the spirit and politeness of the Warrington team. We look forward to TMV visiting us in the new year under the new laws.
Smiles all around slightly hidden by a lot of mud. Onward to Southport Rufc next Sunday back at GSC.
Thanks to our generous donators and our sponsors for their continued support and in helping to provide our kit for this season.
