2. Safeguarding

The Club Safeguarding Officer (CSO) is Dave Evans. He has an enhanced DBS check and has undertaken both the RFU Play It Safe training for coaches/volunteers and the RFU In Touch training for Safeguarding Officers.

The main purpose of the CSO is to act as a point of contact for both Mini and Junior sections of the Club in all issues relating to the welfare and safeguarding of young people and to set a culture in which the club provides a safe environment for children to play and enjoy rugby. This can range from ensuring our volunteers have been DBS checked to ensuring those who participate in rugby activities at the club (including spectators) uphold our codes of conduct.

The club has a Welfare and Safeguarding team which supports Dave in this role, including:

  • Assistant Safeguarding Officer Lucy Blacksell. Lucy is Club Secretary and leads on safeguarding in the Senior section.
  • Assistant Safeguarding Officer Nick Stafford. Nick was formerly Safeguarding Officer and supports Dave with the Junior section.
  • Assistant Safeguarding Officer Vicki Bellingham. Vickyisupports Dave with the Minis section.
