Getting Started & Joining

How to get started?
To get started at our club you should come to one of our training / social sessions, which start Friday 15/05/26 at 6pm. You can just show up, but it would be nice to know numbers and who is coming so you can email us at womenandgirls@warringtonrufc.co.uk to register your interest or to ask questions that aren't answered here.

Do you have any social media where I can learn more or make contact with other players?

Do I need experience to join?
No, we welcome players of all abilities, from absolute beginners to experienced players.

What age can girls start playing?
Girls can play in mixed teams until age 11. Girls-only rugby starts at U12, with teams usually grouped in two-year bands: U14, U16, and U18.

How do I register to play?
All players must register annually via the RFU Game Management System (GMS) to be insured and eligible to play. But we appreciate you may need a few sessions before deciding to join.

Do I need my own kit?
For training, you need comfortable sportswear/shoes and rugby boots should you decide to commit to playing regularly. For matches, the club will provide jerseys and shorts, but you may need to buy boots ,socks, and mouthguards.

Training & Matches
When and where is training?
Friday evenings at 6pm starting 15/05/26

When are matches played?
Women's league matches are primarily on Sundays, though some development or friendly matches may occur on Saturdays or Wednesday evenings.

What if I can only play sometimes?
Yes we are aware that people have busy lives and other commitments flexible training and have development squads that are ideal for those who cannot commit to weekly matches.

Will I need to be able to tackle / is tackling a part of training and matches
The choice to play contact or non- contact rugby will be yours as we aim to offer full contact fixtures and maintain the Friday Evening Non contact sessions.

Club Info & Fees
How much are membership fees?
£25 Annually. They cover insurance, pitch maintenance, and coaching.

Is there a social side?
Yes, rugby is very social. We plan to have a post training BBQ, plus drinks and music in the club. We have a calendar of social functions for members of all ages.

How can I volunteer?
Clubs are run by volunteers. Roles include coaching, administration, first aid, or helping with social media. This is a new start up section of the club so we welcome enquiries from people of all backgrounds and experience. Our future needs range from recruiting experienced and would-be coaches, to people who are happy to run the lines, put the equipment away after training or drive players to matches

Player Safety & Welfare
Is rugby safe?
The RFU provides tailored training for girls and women, with modified rules for age-grade rugby to support development safely.

Who do I contact regarding safeguarding?
Every club has a Club Safeguarding Officer (CSO) to ensure a safe environment for all, especially under-18s. At Warrington the CSO is Nick Stafford.
