Welcome to Warrington U9s rugby for the 2022/23 season.

We extend a warm and supportive welcome to all new players in Year 4 wanting to come and join us. We have a fantastic group of players, parents / carers who are all focused on building a great team and enjoying our rugby. We achieve this by following the core values developed by the RFU – Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship (TREDS). These values serve our players’ development well on and off the pitch.

This season sees the introduction of contact for the U9’s. Our coaching team are RFU contact trained and will ease the players into the more physical side of the game gradually over the weeks, leading up to the first contact matches in October 2022. Alongside this there is lots of team-work, lots of running around and more than anything having FUN!

The season includes a mix of both training on a week night and matches on a Sunday:

• Training Sessions - TBC, usually at Grappenhall Sports Club
• Matches are on Sunday mornings and played both home and away across Cheshire and Lancashire throughout the season.

Players should wear suitable kit with boots and then warmer clothing further into Autumn/Winter) and bring a water bottle and hand sanitiser.

On most Sundays at home there are breakfast butties, teas/coffees etc for sale and the clubhouse. On Sundays when the team play matches, post-match food is provided in the clubhouse for the players and is a great time for team bonding over their chips.

As coaches we aim to make the rugby experience as much fun and as inspiring as we possibly can for every child and to give them the best start in their rugby careers. We are all CRB/DBS cleared and at varying stages of our coaching qualifications as well as First Aid and Safeguard trained.

We always require more assistance with the running of the team so please let us know if you are willing to help in any shape or form. We do ask parents to get involved too, especially when we're playing matches and need to keep an eye on 2 or 3 teams.
