Welcome to Warrington U10s rugby for the 2019/20 season. Our season officially starts on Sunday 1st September, although we will be getting together for some summer activities sessions before hand (details will be sent out as and when or drop me a line). We look forward to welcoming all returning players plus seeing any boys and girls going into Year 5 coming to join us. We enjoyed an excellent U9s season where we safely learnt the basics of tackling and contact rugby. U10s sees the introduction of more aspects of rugby such as non-contest scrums along with 1 on 1 rucks & mauls and we will again ensure that these skills are learnt with player safety as paramount importance. We have seen the team grow and grow; as friends and also team mates and this is a pleasure to watch for all coaches and supporters alike.
During the season matches usually start at 10.30am, home or away. This year we will also look to train on Friday evenings through the season (details on exact arrangements will be given in due course). When training at WSC players should wear suitable kit with trainers until after the cricket season has finished (boots and warmer clothing will not be necessary until further into Autumn/Winter) and bring a water bottle and the all important gum shield. We will hope to be able to once again offer custom mouthguard fittings before the season, details tbc. Matches start the back end of September and are then spread home and away across Cheshire and Lancashire throughout the season.
On most Sundays at home, there are breakfast butties, teas/coffees etc for sale and the bar is usually open by the time rugby finishes. On Sundays when the team play matches, post-match food is provided in the bar for the players and is a great time for the team bonding over their sausage and chips.
As coaches we aim to make the rugby experience as inspiring and fun as we possibly can for every child to give them the best start in their rugby careers. We are all CRB/DBS checked and at varying stages of our coaching qualifications.
Parking is limited at the club, so early arrival helps to get a space. If the car park is full then there is parking on the roads from the club back towards Stockton Heath, but be careful on the Double Yellows.
Any questions whatsoever, please do not hesitate to drop me a line on; firstname.lastname@example.org or 07989 589057.
Looking forward seeing you for our Under 10s season.
Dom and The U10s Coaching Team.
